AMPRO bipods are brand new in SA and reminds one of the very successful Harris bipod that’s been with us for decades.
The aluminium pods are available in various sizes: 5-6 inches, 6-8 inches, 7-8 inches, 8-11 inches and 8-13 inches.
The bipods come with an adapter for rifle sling studs on which a picatinny clamp fits, so each bipod can be used on both mounting systems. It’s also spring loaded and each leg can be extended and then locked in place with a lock-screw. If extended fully the spring loaded legs lock automatically and can be retracted by simply pressing a button.
Mounting of the rifle sling stud adapter takes only minutes and fitting the bipod to the stud or a picatinny rail is done by tightening a lock screw. Simple and easy.
The model shown above is the B-Expert 8-13 inches. It does not swivel, but works fine on a hunting rifle and a long range tactical rifle. It affords a sturdy rest and we used it successfully on shots out to 800m in the prone position as well as paper punching off a bench.
